Damn it, Audie. Why didn't you just stay put?
Audrina asked herself this question as she turned around and found she had gotten herself completely lost. She should have just sat on the shore where she woke up. She should have just waited to see if anyone else had survived. She shivered at the thought. They had to have survived. She couldn't be the only one out of 100 some people to make it. She stopped walking and leaned against a tree, closing her eyes. She tried to remember what had happened exactly.
It had been night and she couldn't sleep. It had been Audie's third night on the cruse and the movement of the sea had been making her sick. She had left her cabin and walked to a railing to try and find out where they were. She spotted land not far away and figured that it was one of the islands they were going to stop at. Boy was she wrong.
The only other thing was someone screaming and grabbing her from behind. She had turned to see who it had been. A man with fangs and blood dripping down his face. She had screamed and ran. But that was the last thing she could remember. And surely it had to be a dream. The man, the thing, couldn't have been real.
Audie opened her eyes and looked around. No. There was no way that the last part she had remembered had been real. But she still felt nervous and worried. She didn't know where she was and was spooked about her dream. She kept telling herself, It wasn't real. It wasn't real, as she walked on, trying to find her way back to the shore.

((I'm bored, so sure why not? =) ))
The dark forest...a place most wouldn't enter of their own will, unless they had business there, or they lived there. Asante...well, she didn't have any real reason to be wandering around in that part of the forest. Darkness intrigued her, though. Being the Light Elemental, she knew everything there was to know about light, and it was one of the most mysterious of the elements. But darkness...well, it was the exact opposite of light, but just as mysterious and elusive.
It's not like she had anything better to do at the moment. Asante was on "leave," or "vacation," or whatever they called it. Basically, she wasn't working, and since her work was her life...well, she needed to find something to do. The dark forest presented her with a small adventure.
While she walked through the shadowy trees, Asante's wings and skin glowed strangely from the light within her, while her usual black clothes just seemed shimmery. Not the greatest for stealth, though, if she really wanted to be stealthy, she wouldn't be glowing. No, Asante was kind of hoping she'd run into someone, whether they be friend or foe, so that she'd have something to think about other than the past. The past was not where she wanted her mind to be. There was pain in the past, and pain made her feel weak.
Her eyes scanned the trees, searching for a distraction, and she glimpsed movement. It was rather obvious movement, with relatively loud footsteps, so she knew it wasn't a predator. More likely unknowing prey. She soundlessly glided toward the source, and her inner light grew brighter so that she could have a better look at who she was approaching.
A girl. A human girl, no less. Asante frowned, and said, "What are you doing out here? This is one of the last places a human should be."

Audie walked on, slowly and carefully. It was dark where ever she was and she almost tripped over more than one root or rock. She kept her hands in front of her slightly, feeling for trees or branches so she wouldn't run into them. She couldn't exactly remember which way she had entered the forest, so she didn't know which way to turn to get out.
She sighed. She would have to reach an opening sooner or later. The forest couldn't go on forever. Could it? Audrina shook her head. Of course it couldn't. She ran her fingers through her blonde hair. It was now a mess from all the salt water. She probably looked horrible, but she was just lucky she made it to shore.
Audie stopped walking. Light was coming from behind her, not much, but just enough for her to notice. She turned around quickly, thinking that maybe she passed a way out of the trees. She jumped and stepped back at what was really behind her though. A girl with wings, an angel. Oh great, I'm dead, She thought to herself. But then the girl spoke, telling her she shouldn't be here. Okay maybe she wasn't dead. Or maybe she was and the angel was just telling her she should be in hell.
She shook her head. She wasn't sure what to think, what to say. "I...uhm...got lost..." Audie twirled a piece of hair between her fingers as she thought. No she wasn't dead, maybe the girl was her guardian angel? She shrugged, it couldn't hurt to ask. "Who are you? And where am I? I'm not dead or anything am I?"

The corner of Asante's mouth crooked upward in amusement. The poor girl was clearly lost, and she was a mess, probably just washed up on shore from a shipwreck. That's the way it looked--not to mention Asante could smell the sea salt on her. And the angel's appearance was apparently both shocking and confusing, so the girl must not have been on the island for a long time.
She chuckled a little. The girl was asking if she was dead? "No, you're not dead, you're in the Triangle. The Bermuda Triangle, if that rings a bell. More specifically, you're in the Dark Forest, not a very nice place for a mortal." She smiled in what she hoped was a more friendly manner and took a step toward the girl; not threateningly, just calmly. She paused on giving her name, though--humans could always be captured by her enemies, and reveal her name as someone who helped them. That was never good...
Mentally, Asante shook herself. She was being paranoid. This human didn't know anything about her, so giving her name wouldn't hurt. "My name's Asante," she said calmly after a few moments, "Follow me, I'll show you the way out of here...unless you don't mind being carried? Flying's faster and easier." She must have sounded very forward, but that was just Asante's personality: cool, composed, and to the point. She'd never wished harm on any mortal, and this one wasn't any different. She needed Asante's help, so she offered.
Nothing too wrong with that, right?

Audie glanced downward and twirled more hair around her finger as she heard the girl laugh slightly. She didn't like being laughed at, but she probably deserved it since she was asking all those questions at once.
She sighed in relief when the girl told her she wasn't dead. She wasn't ready to be dead. She turned her head to one side in confusion when she was told she was in the Bermuda triangle. "That's impossible. There's nothing in the Bermuda triangle. Just planes and ships that wrecked trying to pass through."
Instinctively, Audie took a step back when the angel stepped toward her. She bumped into the trunk of a tree and her hand that wasn't twirling hair was used to brace herself from falling. When her hand touched the tree, she felt a pain in it. She brought it to her face, expecting to see a splinter. Instead, she saw to small marks and some blood around them. It looked like something had bit her. She immediately thought of her 'dream'. "But, it couldn't have been real," She said out loud, though in a whisper.
Audrina then took her other hand away from her hair and covered the bitten one. She looked at the angel and tried to smile. "I'm Audie. And..uhm...well, can we just walk? Please?" She asked. She was scared of heights and didn't feel like passing out in Asante's arms.

Asante resisted the incredibly strong urge to shake her head and/or roll her eyes. Stupid mortal. Got herself lost in one of the most dangerous regions of the island (outside of the kingdoms)...but she supposed it couldn't really be helped. Mortals hardly knew where they were going on the island, even if they'd already been here for a few weeks or months. Even some of the older ones hadn't been outside the village...though they had been getting bolder lately...
The glowing angel, not letting her thoughts show, said, "Alright, hang on a sec," she paused to fly up above the treetops and hover for a minute, spotted the shoreline, and then found the village further down. She gauged the distance and direction, judged it to not be too far, and flew back down, finishing her sentence with: "Okay, let's go this way," and then started walking off to her left, the girl's right. Asante made the light eminating from within her grow stronger, so that the girl wouldn't be too frightened and could watch where she stepped.
"Now," she said, "I'm guessing you were on a ship that crashed on the shore, or a plane. Planes are a bit more rare. And," she added with a sly glance over at Audie, whom she was walking next to, "as for your belief in the fact that there's nothing in the Bermuda triangle...well, you're standing in it. So I'd start believing. What do you think the ships and planes crash into?" She shrugged nonchalantly, and wondered how much she should tell the girl. She should be kind and tell everything...which she probably would at some point. They had a bit of a walk ahead of them...
