It was a hot, humid night out with a slight breeze. A few clouds lingered in the sky, covering some of the stars. All the creatures in the wood looked like they hoped for rain, but all new that it wasn't going to happen soon.
Skylar ventured from the warm forest, to the one she wasn't permitted to be in. The dark forest, one of the many places her elders had told her to stay away from. Not like it stopped her though. Maybe, if they had never told her to stay away, she might have. But just the thought of breaking the rules drug her to the forest.
Maybe if Sky wasn't an angelic princess she would be allowed to be there. But many demons and vampires lurked in these woods and most hated her and her kind. They were on completely different sides. Not that Sky cared much though. She actually hoped to run in to someone that she shouldn't, just for the stories she would have to tell afterward.
The forest was quiet, and Skylar's white wings held her slightly above the ground. Because of the heat, her long brown hair was pulled up in a messy bun, a few loose strands hanging down by her face. Her deep brown eyes searched the trees, and seeing nothing, she let out a sigh and let her feet touch the forest floor as she started to walk along its uprooted path.

The fight was stupid, as they always were, but he was still angry. Solange wanted the last piece of dessert, after already having one. Shane wanted it too and he believed that since he was a guy, with a larger stomach, that he should get it. Besides, he was older even if it was only by two minutes. She screamed about how he was being unfair and blah blah blah. Whatever. His sister needed to grow up.
Shane needed some air so he stepped out of the castle and went for a walk. Even though he was a vampire he wasn’t too sensitive to the sun. It just irritated him a little so it was nicer to walk at night. He inhaled deeply as the warm breeze hit his face. Shane loved his sister deeply and she was his best friend, but he desperately needed to find other people to be around. Hanging out with her twenty-four/seven was just too much. He needed to find some trouble to get into.
As he rounded a corner he swore he heard something, but ignored it. He was looking down at his sneakers as he walked. A little smudge of dirt had gotten on them and he’d made a mental note to clean them off later. As he looked up he saw an angel standing directly in front of him. A large grin spread across his face. “Well, what do we have here?” He advanced toward her slowly. “If it isn’t one of the goody goodies from the sky? Why are you in the dark forest? Shouldn’t you be picking flowers or something sweet like that?” This would be fun.

Skylar found that it was harder to see the dark forest when it actually was dark out. She also found her self tripping over the floor more than once. She always caught herself before actually falling though. But then someone spoke to her and it startled her. She jumped slightly and tripped over a root. Her white wings caught her just before she hit the dirt floor of the forest, and she quickly stood back up straight.
Sky turned to the voice and, from his aura, found that he was a vampire. She hadn't really talked to many vampires before. She stuck to mainly angels and elves. He advanced toward her and with every step he took forward, she took one back. Finally she bumped softly into a large tree trunk.
She scowled at him when he suggested she should be picking flowers and not in the dark forest. She took a step forward and pointed a finger at him, poking him in the chest. "Just because I'm an angel doesn't mean all I do is frolic around and pick flowers."
Skylar immediately regretted saying and doing as she just did and let her hand fall to her side. She glanced toward the ground and muttered a small apology. Sky could never keep her bad attitude steady, she was an angel after all.

Shane was a bit taken aback by the angel’s attitude. It seemed she had a little spark to her. “Don’t be sorry. I’m actually impressed,” he said giving his million-dollar smile. “Shane Deseos.” He picked up her hand and kissed the back of it lightly. His sister would probably be trying to kill this girl if she was here, but Shane wasn’t really like that. He was being nice and sweet…for now.
“What exactly is it that you angels do then if you don’t fly around and do happy things all day?” Shane didn’t know much about angels for he kept to the castle and the dark forest most of the time. He just assumed that they were all perky little people with wings that were always happy and never had anything bad to say.
He took another step toward her. “You see, us vampires, we lurk around waiting to pounce on are prey.” He grinned again. “But no worries. I had a big dinner. I’m not hungry.” Laughing lightly at his own words he stepped back waiting for a response. He only hoped he hadn’t scared her too much.
OoC: ehhhh...short. And total coincidence...I'm watching OTH on dvd right now...

Skylar was a bit surprised when the vampire said he was impressed with her attitude. She was even more surprised when he kissed the back of her hand. Her cheeks turned a few different shades of red before returning to normal, and she had to shake her head to snap back to reality after he actually smiled at her. "I'm Skylar. Skylar Eshbach, but you can call me Sky."
Skylar thought about Shane's question. She glanced back to the ground and then back up at him. "Well, I guess a lot of us do do happy things. But lately I've just been sitting in the castle, trying to stay out of my parents way. They've been set on finding a way to get a hold of the siblings that are apparently back on the island. I don't see that as very angel like."
Sky instinctively took a step backward when Shane took another forward. She swallowed hard but let out a sigh of relief when he laughed and explained he had already eaten. "Not one of my friends, I hope," Skylar said, deciding to joke back.

“Sky, huh? Cool name.” Shane noticed that she blushed but it didn’t come to a surprise to him. He had that effect on people, especially the ladies. “So you’re not only an angel, but angelic royalty. Me too, I guess.” Then he realized that came out weird. “Well, except for the angel part. You are looking at the vampire prince.” He bowed playfully. “I guess that means we could both be in a lot of trouble if our elders knew we were talking to each other.” He didn’t care either way. He had a reputation for breaking rules.
“The siblings…riiiight. Yeah, same with my parents.” Shane didn’t care one way or another as long as he got to live his life uninterrupted. His sister Solange, however, was a different story. She was so keen on taking her mother’s place as queen in the future that she got so caught up in this prophecy child thing. It made him laugh sometimes.
“Unless one of your friends’ names is Very Rare T-bone Steak, I didn’t eat them.” She seemed afraid at first but it appeared that she had lightened up after that joke. “What exactly are you doing in the dark forest at night? Date with a demon?”

Skylar laughed a bit when Shane messed up his words. She brushed a few loose strands of hair away from her face and leaned against the tree trunk behind her. When he bowed playfully, Sky curtsied in return. "It wasn't always that way though. Of course, angels and vampires never really got along. But, before it wasn't as frowned upon for them to have a simple conversation." Sky knew a lot of the triangle's history. She was big on reading and seeing as she had her own personal library, and no life outside of the castle most days, she spent many afternoons reading.
"If you ask me, the whole thing is a joke. The only reason the kids are such a big deal is because we made them one. We could have ignored the prophecy completely and all gotten along still. But, of course, there's always one power-hungry person in every civilization."
Skylar shook her head at the mention of the stake, "Nope, not my friend." She laughed again at his joke of a date with a demon. Sky flashed a pearly white smile, "No, that was last night. I was just extremely bored and looking for something to do. And, I'm glad you're not hungry, because getting eaten was not something on my list of things to do anytime soon."
