Manuelle wondered about life on the island as Razier explain about school. Since he had been there, he had yet to see a mall, a restaurant, or even a supermarket. There were no cars or roads, nothing. At least they had electricity. He gathered that from the fact that she had lights and a refrigerator. Life here must be really simple, aside from the war and having powers part.
“That’d be cool, I guess.” He’d never thought he’d actually come to enjoy the island, but kidnapping and bad timing aside, it was a great place. “You should come to where I live too, if you can. You’d be amazed. Seriously.” He could show her all the things that he normally took for granted in life; his car, his stereo, and all the places he went to hang out on a regular basis.
“I’m not really sure what I want anymore,” he said. “I mean, you grow up thinking that certain things are required or expected of you. Like, you’re supposed to go to college and you’re supposed to graduate and get a job. Then you’re supposed to get married and have kids. But recently, I’ve realized that there’s a world of opportunity out there. I have no idea what I want to do with my life or who I want to be with. I always thought that Raquel and I would be together for a long time, but look what happened to that.” He sighed and scratched his head. “I think that I’m just going to grab life by the horns and run with it.”
Razier seemed like she could be a good mother too, but she still had a lot of things about herself to figure out. They both did. At this age, no one is really self-assured. Many times people rush into relationships thinking its what they want, or rather, what they’re supposed to want. It seemed as if they both has unanswered questions in their lives. Manuelle laughed at what she said. It was cute, him with kids. “I dunno. A family would be nice, but I think it’s too early in life to tell. But I promise, if I do have any, I’ll be sure to mention you…while conveniently forgetting about the beating me up part.”
