It always seemed to be warm on this island Cameron thought to himself as he headed outside. He could feel himself heating up and he knew then that his back would be sweltering because of his wings keeping the heat in. He spread them slightly and used them to fan himself, it wasn't working particularly well. As a soloution he decided to head to the lake.
Upon arrival he took off his shirt and dove into the water. That too was warm. He rose to the surface shaking the water from his hair and eyes and concentrated on cooling it down a little. It was immesly difficult. With the sun beating down on it the water was acting like glass and heating up extremely quickly.
He dove again and sat on the bottom of the lake for a while, it was cooler here. He stayed there as long as he could holding his breath until his oxygen starved lungs could take no more. He tried to return to the surface as quickly as he could. But he still gasped for the precious air as he hit the surface. If anyone was watching him, they must have been laughing. When he caught his breath, he too smiled. He cursed his own stupidity and looked round.

Lilly sat in her room near the window, trying to feel what little breeze was passing through it. She pulled her brown hair up off her neck and tied it quickly with an elastic. She had to cool down somehow. It was just too hot. She decided she would go for a swim in the lake that a friend had told her about. It seemed like the perfect solution. She pulled on a bathing suit and slid her denim shorts back on before she grabbed a towel and made her way down.
She walked slowly, the heat making her feel sluggish. She arrived at the lake soon enough though and smiled to herself. It was reflecting nicely in the bright sunlight. She dropped her belongings on the side of the lake and looked around. She saw a shirt lying in the grass, but no one around. She shrugged anyways and pulled off her tank top and shorts. Just as she was about to dive in, something exploded from the water.
Lilly jumped back quickly until she realized it was just a person. She let out a deep breath and laughed to herself. "You scared me!" she called out to the person and laughed a little more. She stepped forward and entered the water. It was warm, to her dislike, but was cooler than the sweltering heat of her room in the village. "Nice day for a swim huh?"

Cameron was unaware that there was someone else there. He quickly surfaced to see who it was. He realised that he didn't know her, partly because he didn't know anyone here. 'Sorry.' he called. He hadn't meaned to frighten her, he hadn't even seen her.
'Yeah, I guess.' He would have liked to have made the water cooler, but his powers were still somewhat limited. 'I'm Cameron, by the way.' he said realising he hadn't introduced himself. He then dove back under the water. As he got there he remembered he didn't know who she was either.

Lilly smiled when she saw him surface again. "Don't worry about it." She walked further into the water until it was just to her waist. Then, taking a deep breath, she took her legs out from underneath her and fell beneath the water's surface.
It was a little cooler as she sunk further down. The need of oxygen brought her back up soon enough. Just as she surfaced, she caught him saying something.
"Nice to meet you Cameron," she said. "I'm...." Lilly stopped when she saw him drop below the surface again. She shrugged and waited for him to pop back up before she introduced herself. "I'm Lilly."

He surfaced just to catch her name. 'Well hey Lilly. Good to meet you.' His hair was going in his eyes, that was the only trouble wth it. He ran a hand through it so it was out of his eyes. He knew that it would be sticking up in all angles, so he flattened it, at least it would have given her a laugh.
He came further up, and sat on the shore, but his legs were still submerged in the water keeping him cool. He looked up and then at her, 'You been round here long?'

((eek curse stupid homework. sorry for delay!!!))
Lilly smiled when he popped up again. She noticed his out of control hair and laughed. It reminded her of a little boy that lived in the village. His hair was always a mess. She shook her head at his question. "No, I just got here. What about you?"
She dove under the water again and resurfaced. The water was a little cooler so it served its purpose to refresh her. Thankfully she didn't feel nasty or sweaty anymore. The cool water was a nice reprieve from the harsh heat.

((Dw! )) 'Nah, I've been here less than a month, not long.' Cameron knew that it was his influence keeping the water cool, and he knew that he couldn't keep it up for much longer, the heat and his limited power combined meant it wouldn't be much longer before it heated up again.
He gave up on it, and swam to the shore. He sat on the sandy back there and watched Lilly for a little while.

Lilly looked at him puzzled for a moment, but then realized her mistake. "Oh how long have I been on the island? Sorry I thought you meant here, as in the lake. " She laughed and shook her head. "Wow, this heat must really be getting to me. I've been on the island for two years." She smiled but turned her head away, shaking those cruel memories.
She dipped under one more time before coming out of the water herself. She grabbed her towel and quickly rung out her brown hair. The dry air around her took care of the excess moisture on her skin. She took a deep breath before lying down on her back. "Some weather huh? It hasn't been this hot in a while."

((ooc: sorry for the delay - i thought i'd already replied!))
Cameron laughed at her mistake, but not in a malicious way, evryone had dumb moments. He was one for those, he was positive it wouldn't be too long before he embarrassed himself in front of her.
'Yeah, it's nice here... I don't suppose that it's always this sunny?' he dared hope.
