Gentle rays of warm sunlight streamed through the window and hit Mari's face as she rolled over in her queen sized bed. A few birds could be heard chirping outside and she wondered if her mother had forgotten to wake her up this morning to babysit for her aunt. With her eyes still closed, she stretched and reached for her phone. Nothing.
Marielle opened her eyes and groaned. She did this every morning for the past 16 days. Wake, stretch, sigh. She still wished she wasn't here. She wanted to be home. Her real home. Not this place that she had been brought to against her will. Kidnapped. Mari had been kidnapped. When she got home she was going straight to the police and get them all arrested.
But when was she going home? Was she ever going home?
Marielle rolled back over and pulled the covers over her head. For nights she had been wishing this was all just a dream. That she would wake up and she would be back in her real room. Her friends would text her and make plans for the night. They would go out for pizza or go to the mall and this would happen every night for the whole summer. They had planned for this summer since they were little seeing as they could all drive now. But now what? What did her friends think now? Now that she had suddenly disappeared.
She didn't even want to think about her friends. It only made her miss them more. It was as if there were a huge gaping hole in her stomach and every time she thought of them, it got bigger. Of course, she had her brother but it wasn't the same. And there was their guardian, Razier, but Mari wasn't quite sure what to think of her yet.
Mari sat up and let the covers slide off her head. Looking around, her room was tidy. She had cleaned, organized and reorganized at least 30 times already. She hadn't left the hide out and she didn't plan on it yet. Not until, at least, her brother was with her. She stood and stretched and walked to the window. It was beautiful out, as always, plenty of sun. It didn't tempt her, though. She wasn't going to be tempted out into a world she knew nothing about. Not even to tan.

Razier yawned and cringed as she felt the couch underneath her. It wasn't the most comfortable place to fall asleep, but she had been too exhausted last night when she returned to the hide out to make it to her room. She rolled over and found herself on the floor staring up at the cieling. "Ugh."
She pushed herself up into a sitting position and looked around. Things seemed quiet. Maybe too quiet, were the children still there? Had they tried running away while she was more or less passed out in the living room. Razi stood up and headed for the girl's room first. She wasn't used to knocking so she just walked in silently and spotted the girl at the window.
Without a sound she closed the door and came up beside her. "Hmm..." She stared out the window as well and looked down at the sundappled ground beneath a thriving tree. She smiled slightly, but then turned to the girl. Marielle. "How are you this morning? Probably not well, eh?"
She was not blind to the fact that the girl was unhappy here. There was nothing anyone could do about it though. "I'm sorry you've been dragged into this against your will. There are things that must be done though, events that must take place. I do not agree with them, but I do not have the ability to object."
"The best you can do is just... try to adjust and hope that things go smoothly and quickly. With any luck you can go home soon, or come to call the triangle home." Razier sighed and tapped the window sill. "Right, well... are you feeling up to going out? If not, I won't force you. I dare say it makes my job much easier if you stay here all the time."

Manuelle sat up in his bed. He didn’t bother to open the curtain to his window. His stomach growled for he hadn’t eaten in days. He hadn’t slept either. Things hadn’t been all that clear. Manny had been staying up all night to try and sort everything out, but the pieces weren’t fitting together.
Mari had left to go to a friend’s house and Manny left shortly after her for his jog. He jogged at that same time every day. When he got to the park at the corner of the intersection he barely noticed that no one was around. He walked over to the bench to stretch, but before he could lift his leg someone grabbed him from behind. Naturally, he fought back, elbowing whoever was behind him in the stomach. Before he could throw a punch, he had lost consciousness. Next thing he knew he was waking up here, in a place vaguely familiar, yet some how new to him.
Manny was angry and frustrated. He was just about to start a new chapter of his life when he was taken from his home. Both he and his girlfriend, Raquel, had gotten into a great university and at the end of the summer they were both supposed to move out and start college. But now, he didn’t know what Raquel was doing. Every night images of her cry played over and over in his head as he thought of how she must have felt when she realized that he was gone.
His mind drifted to his sister as he sat in thought. He knew that she was in the room next to her, but he hadn’t bothered to go see her in days. He was being selfish and felt terribly about it. Mari must be just as afraid and angry as he was and he shouldn’t abandon her like that. They needed to stay together now more than ever.
Manny slid off his bed onto his feet. He retreated to his bathroom to brush his teeth and wash some of the tiredness out of his face. Looking up into the mirror, he frowned. He looked like a wreck, but could anyone blame him? He had been under a lot of stress.
Walking out of the room, he went a couple feet and into his sister’s room. There, he found Razier talking to his sister. He couldn’t help but feel a little resentment toward her. She was one of them. One of the ones that brought them here. “Mari,” he said softly. He walked over to her and kissed her on the cheek, all the while listening to what Razier was saying. He turned to her, anger on his face. “None of that makes any sense. What events?” Who were these people and what did he Marielle ave to do with them?

Marielle was still standing at the window when Razier had entered. She hadn't heard her at first, but yet was startled when Razier had come up next to her and asked her how she was this morning.
How was she this morning? Not normal. But she hadn't felt normal since she got here. She couldn't exactly remember what feeling normal was like. Was it when nothing hurt and you weren't tired? Or was it when you were happiest and where you belonged? If it was either of those, then she definitely wasn't normal. Maybe, this new feeling would become a new normal.
Marielle didn't answer. Her eyes threatened to release a few tears, but she swallowed hard and didn't let the salty water escape. She was about to walk away from the window when Manny entered the room. He walked to over to her and kissed her on the cheek.
Mari and her brother never were the closest siblings. Sometimes they got along, and sometimes they didn't. But she could already tell that they had gotten closer just from the past days of being here. Even if they hadn't exactly spoken much.
When Razier said the best she could do was try to adjust, Mari sat down on her unmade bed. "Adjust. You want me to adjust to a place that I was brought to against my will? Taken away from most of my family and friends?" She tried to stay calm, but anger showed through her shaky voice.
Then Manny asked his question. Mari was just as confused about this as he was, but at least she was trying to stay calm. He was angry, but Mari understood. He had also been taken away from their family, and his girlfriend. She looked up at Razier as she waited for a response to their questions.

Razier glanced at Manuelle when he entered and watched him show Marielle some affection. She felt a pang of jealousy. She never had anything like that growing up. The closest thing to a family she had was the other guardians. The feeling passed quickly, especially when Marielle and Manuelle started speaking. Mari was acting mature, or trying to. Manny... well Manny was pissing Razier off.
She was trying to keep her cool. It wasn't working well. She turned to Manuelle and narrowed her eyes. "I don't need your attitude, so drop it. I explained everything and if you had taken to listening maybe you would know now!" She hissed through clenched teeth. Razi could feel herself beginning to shake, but she took a deep breath and let it out slowly. Looking at Mari calmed her a little. At least she was trying to be calm and sensible, as sensible as she could in a situation like this.
"I want you to try and adjust. Just try. I don't expect it to be easy, adjusting never is. If you don't even attempt to though you will only bring yourself and everyone else more trouble." Razier wanted to add that she was never asked to adjust to her role, she was told to. She was forced to. She didn't want it, but she had it and that was that.
"If you attempt to be helpful and complying you might be able to leave here sooner." Razier sighed and looked back out the window. "I'm sorry you had to be dragged into this, really. I've said it already and I mean it. I didn't kidnap you, I didn't want anything to do with it. The island is better off without you here."
She didn't mean to sound harsh, but there was bitterness in her tone. Her blue eyes became clouded with thought, but she pushed it off. "If you'll excuse me, I'm going to go outside." Razi quickly turned on her heel and left the hideout. She need to be near plants. She needed to clear her head.
Her whole life all she wanted was to be happy and do whatever she wanted. She'd never gotten that though. Someone was always asking her for something though, dumping responsibility on her that she wanted nothing to do with. The guardian of the prophecy brats. Best job yet. Razi scoffed and sighed as she spotted a nice tall tree and climbed up into the branches. She hugged the trunk not for physical support, but for emotional support.
Sometimes she hated her parents for being guardians and then dying on her... and these siblings were the reason for it. How was she supposed to protect them when she hated them for being the cause of her parents' deaths?

Manuelle watched as Razier gor angry. How dare she. She wasn’t the one that was kidnapped. She wasn’t the one taken away from the people that she loved. And on top of that, she was neing completely ambiguous in her explanations. Nothing she was saying was making any sense to him, yet she had the effrontery to yell at him like he was a child.
Manny was not his sister. When he was angry, he made it known. You had a to be a terribly unlucky person to feel the wrath of Manuelle Pearce. She was pushing his buttons and if he didn’t calm down things would get ugly. He breathed in deeply then exhaled to calm his agitated nerves. Things here were not off to a great start.
Try to adjust? He had seen nothing but the walls of this hide out for over two weeks. What was there to adjust to? She made it sound so easy. What does she know? Razier shouldn’t blame him for getting angry and wanting answers. He had questions and was demanding answers. He listened to her lecture them, but nothing she said was helping. If the island was better off without them, why were they there? Before he had the chance to ask her, she’d excused herself and left.
Manny sighed and leaned against the wall running his fingers through his untamed hair. You knew something was wrong with Manny when his hair wasn’t being taken care of. He put a lot of work into making it look good, but ever since he had been here he had neglected it.
Standing up, he walked over to the bed and sat next to Mari. “I don’t understand any of this. Where are we? What are we doing here?” Part of him felt badly because, all though he and his sister weren’t that close, he was raised know that it was his job to take care of her. He was protective of his little sister, but he felt useless now, not knowing what was happening around him.

Marielle looked back down at her hands. Why had life become so difficult? She'd rather be back home, dealing with who was crushing on who, who had had a little to much to drink the night before, or what guy she had her eyes on next. She wasn't ready to be half of the reason for an islands destruction or for it's savior.
Razier had apparently gotten upset and left while Mari was thinking to herself. She looked over to her brother as he ran his fingers through his hair. He was a mess. Mari looked to a mirror in her room and saw that she didn't look much better either. It wasn't anything a little make-up couldn't fix, though. But right now she wasn't exactly worried about how she looked.
"I don't either." She said as Manny sat beside her. She felt like she were 5 again and leaned her head sideways onto his shoulder, wrapping her arms around his waist and squeezed slightly. "Maybe we should just do as she said and try to adjust. She did say that we might be able to go home. There still basically 3 months left of summer vacation. We might be home in time for you to go to college. I can go back to school. Mom and Dad..."
Mari stopped herself and sat back up. When Razier had explained things to her, she had said that her real parents where the elven king and queen. Not her foster parents she had lived with for 16 years. Had they known? Had they known that they were going to be taken away at some point? They had to of. Everything was probably pre-arranged in some way. Marielle's life had already been planned out for her. This wasn't fair.

((Uhh I have no idea what to do now... so... I'm going to have Razier leave... and you people can wander and get yourself into trouble if you feel the urge... XP))
Razier sighed and looked back at the entrance to the hideout. She shook her head angrily and then jumped down out of the tree, patting the trunk in thanks as she landed. She picked up a fallen leaf and crushed it in her hand, only to reopen her fist and have a note on the leaf which was then folded neatly in her palm.
She waved her free hand and sent the note back into the hideout to rest on a table in the living room. It read:
Marielle... and Manuelle,
Try not to wander while I'm gone. You'll get yourself in trouble. I have other resposibilities to tend to though as well. If you need me tell a plant or tree, or... anything Earth related. The message will get to me. Or just scream my name... but hopefully you won't have need of screaming.
Right, bye.
Razier Immori Tempest Head Guardian of the Temple of Tarynn Prophecy Child Guardian
Razi didn't expect them to take her seriously, but she figured she'd tell them how to contact her nonetheless. If worse came to worse and they really needed her they might try it even if they doubted it would work. With that Razi sped off into the thick of the island to get home.
She had responsibilities... yes... but that wasn't why she was leaving. She just needed time alone and far away. Selfish? No doubt, but Razier felt she was entitled to be when she was thrown into this profession without having been asked if she wanted it. Just like the kids had been thrown into the middle of the war on the island without being asked if they wanted it.

Nothing that was going on seemed real to him. How could he be taken from his home to the middle of nowhere and then be asked to adjust? Manny kept hoping that he would wake up from this nightmare that he was having, but that was too good to be true.
Manny didn’t believe anything that Razi said. None of it made sense to him and he wasn’t about to sit and analyze it. He was too confused and angry for that. “I don’t understand how you can be so calm about this. WE WERE FREAKIN’ KIDNAPPED!! We’ve been gone for two weeks and everybody back home probably thinks we’re dead. We’re not even sure when we’ll be going back, if we go back at all. Sorry if I can’t be as mellow as you.”
He regretted getting angry at her because this wasn’t her fault. Sighing, he said, “I guess you’re right. Cooperating will make this easier. And hopefully, the easier it is, the quicker we can go home.” His mind drifted toward his parents after Mari mentioned them. Parents… Manuelle didn’t want to believe what Razier said about the “Elven Queen”. That didn’t even sound real. There was no such thing as elves. And if he who he believed to be his real parents were in on this he didn’t think he’d ever be able to forgive them.
But of course, none of that was real…
Manny needed to stretch his legs so he stood up and decided to walk around the hide out a bit. Walking into the living room, he noticed something on the table. It was a leaf with writing on it. “What the hell?” he said to himself. Opening, he read the note. “You have got to be kidding me.” Razi couldn’t expect him to listen to someone that looked to be the same age he was. He took the note into his sister’s room and handed it to her. “Read this. She’s telling us to talk to plans. I’m telling you, Razier is crazy.”

Marielle released her hug on her older brother when he yelled. She placed her hands on her lap once more and only stared at them. This made her feel like she was 5 years old even more. She would get yelled at and not know what to do. But Manny wasn't exactly yelling at her. He was just frustrated.
Manny had stood up and left Mari's room. She was about to just crawl back under the covers and wish for it all to go away. Or maybe she could find a witch with ruby slippers, click her heels three times, and BAM! She would be home. Her parents would tell her that she had only fallen and hit her head, that it was all a dream.
Mari was pulled from her thoughts by her brother's voice. She stood and he walked into her room holding a leaf. She took it in her hands and read it. She couldn't help but laugh just a bit at the mentioning of talking to plants. She had heard of crazy gardner's doing that to help the plants grow, but not of talking to them to try to get a hold of somebody.
She let go of the leaf and let it fall onto her floor as she walked into the living room. She then walked to the door of the hideout and opened it. She didn't walk out, just looked. Razier had said to try and not wander. Mari didn't plan on it. It was as if she suddenly got the phobia of going out side, and even if she wanted to, she couldn't place her foot outside the door.
"Manny," Marielle said softly, her eyes scanning the beautiful day beyond the hideout, "what do you think it's like out there? Past the center, I mean."

Manuelle immediately felt badly for yelling at Marielle and apologized. As she stood, he followed her into the living room to the front door. Standing behind her, he peered outside. The island was beautiful, no doubt, but there was a mysterious air to it. “I dunno Mari,” he said, never taking his eyes off the scenery. Stepping past her, he stood outside. He did so hesitantly, but when he realized that he was still alive he relaxed.
Looking back at Marielle, he held out his hand saying, “But there’s only one way to find out.” He wa really anxious to look around. He had been hold up in the hide out for so long and he couldn’t take it any more. “You’re not actually going to listen to Razier, are you? You know, the same person that told you to talk to a plant? Come on, I won’t let anything happen to you.”
Pouting his lips and batting his eyelashes like a little girl, he pleaded with her. “Besides, what is she gonna do if we don’t listen to her. It’s not like she can ground us.”
OoC: sorry it’s so short…brain fart.

Marielle's gaze shifted from the unfamiliar outside world to her brother as he stepped outside. He was far more braver than she. She still stood in the doorway even as he held his hand out for her. She looked from him down to his hand and then back to him as she bit her lip.
Mari usually did that when she was nervous or unsure what to do. In elementary school they would put on plays and make Mari actually speak alone. Her lip would look horrible and scabs for days after her shaky performance.
But when Manny asked if she were actually going to listen to someone who told her to speak to plants, she mustered up a little bit of courage. She took a step and placed her hand in Manny's, laughing slightly as he pouted like a girl.
Marielle closed the door behind her with her free hand and stepped into the sun. It was so warm. So much warmer than back home. Even though she was still in her p.j.'s, she was glad that last night she had chosen shorts and a tank to sleep in. "It's so beautiful." She said as she looked around some more.
(OOC - No worries, mine's short too. If they're going to explore, should we move the thread some where other than the hideout? Then, if someone would like to join, they can.)
